We all know that with the development of the era of WiFi (Wireless Frequency) wireless alias now also make the growth of the number of Access Point (AP) more and more. Only, if only rely on standard tools (even more so by tool from the Windows Wireless Network Connection), we will not be able to detect APs that may signal weak, or for example to detect interference, and also detects attacks from the signal - the wireless signals at the AP our control.
One tool that may be said one of the best currently in terms of overcoming obstacles - obstacles are NetStumbler which can be downloaded here
NetStumbler is a tool that complete yand can serve to detect wireless signals that are within range of our wireless devices, can even capture the signal farther than can be captured by standard wireless devices.
In the picture above we can see that there are 2 APs detected by NetStumbler with each preceded by the symbol AP Lock Padlock (an indicator that the AP has a system security WEP / WPA) and distinguished by the color that shows the range of the AP. Green means the signal is good, yellow means the signal is not good, Red means the signal is very weak. This can prove to us we see a graph of the signal by clicking on the Tree Menu [Channel] to expand his sub menu, click on the channel number, and click the MAC address of the AP we want to see graphed.
As in the example above, we see that there are 2 APs that are in the same channel which is channel 6 (2437 GHz) which means that the possibility for interference is very big there. So if you are a Network Administrator, it is advisable to change the channel that we use between channel 1 (2413 GHz) or 11 (2462 GHz). Due to the wireless connection, channel 1, 6, 11 is the best channel. But if the third channel is not possible, we can still use other channels.
It is highly recommended when using NetStumbler, we walked to give a more accurate signal information.
Hopefully useful :-)
